Famous Al Bastakiya landmark in Dubai

It is a historic district in Dubai. This place is the oldest residential area in the city. It is named after the Bastak region of Iran, where many of the residents migrated from. It is located in Bur Dubai, along the Dubai Creek and includes many narrow lanes and wind towers. Also located here is the Al Fahidi Fort, the oldest existing building in Dubai.

Al Bastakiya, Dubai

The construction of this location dates back to the 1890’s and in the prime of the site, it could hold up to 60 housing units. Traditionally built for rich families and with the discovery of oil, many of them relocated to different parts of the city.

Repairs have been conducted on the structures to bring back its former glory. Although the process is slow, at least it is constance. Their goals is to take all new elements out and stick to the traditional plans. Truly, this is a nice place to visit if you want to get to know the country.
